Straight Up!

We BGs have the ability to be very versatile when it comes to our hair. Our various textures gives us the option to rock an Afro, curly, straight or wavy style. Like I’ve written before, I tend to wear my hair straight via a relaxer. When it’s time to go home to Chicago to get my hair done, my stylist uses the FHI flat iron.

The first time she used it, I didn’t believe the hype that it could cut down the styling process tremendously by eliminating the step of blow-drying. Yes, she actually flat ironed my wet hair! I know some of you are thinking, “How can flat ironing wet hair be a good thing?” Well, the Ceramic Tourmaline locks in moisture and leaves hair shiny without damage. I must say, my hair was super bouncy and full of body after using the iron. What will they think of next?

Have you tried any of the FHI flat irons? If so, were you satisfied with the results? If you haven't tried it, would you? Please share!

Hey BGG
I have never flat ironed my hair but i have heard that some people get great results from flat ironing. I did hear about this whole iron while it's wet process and I am glad that it has worked for you. I am just so scared...lol
I just keep thinking heat heat and more heat.

I haven't flat ironed my hair in over seven months but if I do I'd like to use the Chi.

I am definitely ready for this flat iron althought it seems like you'd be electrocuted. Well, apparently, it works. I just hope my stylist gets one. Maybe cutting out the blow drying will get me out of her chair much quicker!

though i would not flat iron my hair while it is wet, i do need to invest in a FHI. a couple of stylists have used it on my hair with great success. i have virgin natural hair but alot of people would never know when i get a good flat iron. even my mom sometimes says, "who put a perm in your hair?!"

wow, and here I thought the Chi was the mother of all flat irons. That thing does absolute wonders for my hair (and this is coming from a very NAPPtural sistah lol). FHI sounds like a miracle worker as well tho. And i've been hearing rave reviews about it all over. Just might have to see if it can work a miracle lol

You know I'm rockin' the natural hair but I've been straightening it for the past 2 weeks (ducks from die-hard-nappies). The Chi is the businessss!!

I have the exact same iron. It is truly the best flat iron I've ever used.

My stylist uses a Chi with .5 inch plates, but my hair is so short I'd be hesitant to use it on myself.

I'm from Chicago (far southside) too! The first thing I want to do there is get my hair done and eat decent food.

Wow. I've never heard of flat ironing wet hair. I must ask my stylist. Thanks for the tip.

i iron my (straight) hair sometimes. i have a fancy iron but of a different brand. i use it more to get rid of the frizz.

Great topic! I'm natural, I haven't straightened by hair since November because I haven't had a reason to. AND the humidity in the Chi in always on ridiculousness, so I just don't want to waste time and money, if I don't have to.

However, this flat ironing while wet thing is intriguing. Has anyone ever heard of doing that on relaxer-free hair? *Sending my stylist this post via facebook* It sound scary, but I'll try anything once.

Oh, I just can't resist a new gadget and if it works like I've heard, I'll be in heaven.

I've heard about this flat iron but I was told it was $400! I think I can manage $119 for a miracle worker! I think it's worth it simply because I hate the blow dryer! Thanks, BGG! I'll give it a try!

I've flat-ironed my hair after blow drying with not so good results. Maybe flat ironing my wet hair will work better...hmmm

My friend had her hair flat ironed with one of these amazing irons and her hair has never been so beautiful. I would say it's worth every penny and how can anyone resist the pink one?!

Whenever I do my hair on my own I ALWAYS blow dry and then flat iron.. even when I do a roller set, I usually use the flat iron to straighten the roots. I LOVE my flat iron!

The grass is always greener on the other side. My hair is naturally straight and therefore I don't use flat irons. But it's nice to see the new brands and they look less scary than the old kinds.

I've never used a CHI flat iron, but it sounds like it's a good one! Will tell my stylist about it. :-)

Although I haven't worn my hair straight in over eleven years when I last had it relaxed, a good friend of mine who has chemical free hair absolutely swears by those flat irons. She often opts for the straight look instead of wearing her hair natural and when she does those are the only flat irons she will use. She says they are great because they never burn your hair.

I haven't tried none of it but I have heard of it before I think these are the ones my cousin has cause she told me you can use it on wet hair. This is a must for me to try cause I don't like all that extra work. Thanks for the heads up!

@PBW - You're a fellow Chicagoan!! :-) It's so funny because the majority of my family is in Nashville now.

my stylist uses an FHI flat iron on my hair and i love the results every time! my hair is natural and when she's done with it people swear i have a weave or a perm it's so straight and thick! been meaning to buy one for home.

This flat iron is the business! My stylist uses it so effortlessly and with a flick of the wrist, my layers are full and bouncey. Love it! I've heard of how good CHI is and if you want to judge how good something is by price, then FHI is better cause its a lil more expensive. I will invest in one as soon as I have the funds, til then I'll be a Gold n Hot gurl, :).

I haven't tried the FHI, but I love my CHI. It's pink like the FHI and works great. Check it out too. http://www.myhairstylingtools.com/pink-dazzle-flat-hair-iron-p-315.html

I really only flat iron about 5-6 times I year, but I use the FHI when I do. I love the FHI; it leaves my hair like silk and doesn't take forever. I've had it for about 3 years. I am saving my pennies now to buy the new 6-layer ceramic FHI Runway flat iron.
