Light My Fire!

During this time of year, there’s nothing more festive than lighting a few candles! Since I don’t have any holiday décor showcased in my tiny apartment, I always opt to light a few candles to create a cheerful, yet relaxing environment. For me, being surrounded by a few scented candles is an instant pick-me-up! Plus, they make for perfect inexpensive gifts (although I’d recommend buying a non-scented one if you aren’t sure of the person’s scent preference) for both men and women!

Do you enjoy lighting candles? What's your favorite scent?

Check out some of these!

BGG, I've never met a candle I didn't love. The scent doesn't even really matter to me. I love them all. For me it's more about the atmosphere created by a lit candle. Perhaps the scent doesn't matter to me cause I've never paid more than $10 bucks for a candle so maybe at that price you don't get much of a scent! ahahahhaa I'm gonna try the one from Sally's since it's in my price range!

I LOOOOOOOOOVE candles, I collect them- Whenever I see a new one (that's affordable) I have to pick it up. It seems like I can never have enough. I don't have any xmas decorations up neither but lit candles make me feel so festive; especially at night when its cold out.

I absolutely LOVE candles. We had a blackout in my neighborhood and my mom called. She was like I know you're ok because you always have so many candles, but I wanted you to know I was thinking about you.

That day I had so many candle burning that I almost didn't even notice the blackout. LOL!

You can always count on candles to change your mood, they are so very very relaxing. When I want a scented candle I usually grab up the vanilla scents. But usually just the light of the flame on a non-scented candle with the lights off is all you need to put your mind at ease.

i'm really partial to vanilla scents...and have been wanting a Diptyque candle forEVER but can't justify, literally burning, $80.

Im with kay*... as much as I love scented candles, I cannot see paying more than $25 for one candle. To me, that seems like literally watching your money burn!

Candles would make great gifts though. Something I would have never thought of! Thanks BGG!

@Kay - I must say my favorites are vanilla and raspberry!

I love candles, but I hate the scented varieties. I usually get tea-lights because I hate the look of a half lit up candle and the odd shapes they form as they're burning.

I love candles and lately I been using candles made of soy which are supposed to burn slowly and better for the environment.
I love your suggestions and I made look in to Aunt Sadie's Candy cane for the holidays.

I love scented candles!
I also cannot afford $65, but everyone should hit theor local Marshalls/TJ Maxx to find quality candles for little cash. $4 to $10! And remember, these are marked down.

P.S.
The Stella Mare line is great!

@Tiffany - I agree!! I am the queen of Marshall's and TJ Maxx for everything, esp candles. I just wasn't able to post any photos from these store because they don't have a site like that.

Laura Mercier's creme brulee candles are awesome too!!! and when that fails... the Febreeze vanilla candles are cheap as hell but they smell like $50 candles!!

From my experience as as candle addict, the best place to shop for scented candles is Anthropologie. Their candles come in all different scents, from yummy bakeables to florals. The best the candles at Anthropologie is that they're inexpensive (about $15) and they burn really clean!

I just recently "got into" candles, now that I've settled into my new apartment. I love Old Navy's line actually, all the scents are warm and bold, and blend together very well. I have a few scattered on my bedside table and they're constantly lit, definitely a mood enhancer.

I've never truly been a candle type of guy, but I have to say that these look gorgeous - just like yourself, BGG. I can't wait to get some for myself.
