Eye-Catching Lines

When you want to make your eyes appear wide-eyed and bright, reach for a liner. Using liner is essential to defining eyes and making them pop with a flattering look. While some BGs prefer to use liquid liners for a more precise line, others might opt for more user-friendly kohl pencils - I've used both.

For the daytime applying liner to the upper lid is key, while using it on the top and bottom for special outings, nights out on the town or dinner dates creates a more glamorous appearance. Although black is the most popular shade for us BGs, some makeup artists taut white liner a la 1970s as a must-have because it opens the eyes making them appear bigger and brighter.

No matter what liner you use, always choose a waterproof formula to help prevent smudging.

Would you ever try white eyeliner? Do you prefer liquid or pencils? What's your favorite brand?

I've worn all colors of liners but black and light brown are my staples. when i'm feeling fun though, I'll put a hot blue on my upper eyelid.

BGG, I've never used any color other than black but I've seen others use blues and even reds. I think it's cute on the younger BGs. In college, I used liquid liner, however, they made some changes to the product and I switched to my now favorite MAC Engraved Powerpoint Eye Pencil. It goes on nice and smooth and rarely smudges. BGG can you show a picture of white eyeliner? I don't think I've ever seen it!

i have not ventured outside of black and brown but i am curious about white. ive only used mac eyeliners. since im on a budget now, i may have to try that revlon one you like. also, ive only used pencils. im a little afraid id mess up with liquid.

I'm no good w/ the liquid liners!! You've gotta have a really steady hand for it... I've heard the best way to apply it is sitting down w/ your elbow resting on a hard surface (like a table)... I just stick to the regular pencil liners, which also give me the option of blending if I feel like it.

The best in my opinion is Bobby Brown - but that Revlon one sure is great! I learned this when I swiped BGG's! :)

Eyeliner can make or break you and can instantly make you look put together and great. I feel naked with out it.

I've always embraced it because it is a cultural thing for Indian BG's but now it is the total rage which I don't mind.

I like it in all forms - extended, curved up, heavy, on the bottom, you name it!

Super chic - especially the 60s look!

Wes - you should check out a firm tip liquid liner , like the Lorac one BGG posted. A lot of old school liquid liners had flimsy tips - those thin bristles that just spell disaster in so many ways - now there are more easily accessible firm tip ones from Maybelline, Loreal and the like. The best IMO is Body Shop, surprisingly. It is super black and a good shaped pointed tip.

For those of you considering deviating from Black - think about a dark shimmery teal or an emerald green. Those give you a pop and the shimmer helps too!

BG you are so cleaver. I have to give some of those a try. I'm a brown/black girl myself.

I'm jealous of all of you. Having to use contact lenses I have a hard time with eyeliners.

Liquid liner is all I use now. It took me some time to master it but once I did...I will never go back to pencils.

I have only used black and brown, but I think white would be cute with a false eyelash--very dramatic.

I use the pencils but recently I've been getting more into dramatic eyeliner so this post came right on time! Thanks.

BGG, I have huge eyes so I don't need anything making them bigger or opening them up so I stick with the black eyeliners...liquid or pencil. During the day, I wear it on top only but when I want to look mysterious and dramatic, I put it on top and bottom!

@K-Bear, I will find a photo of someone wearing white eyeliner and send it to you or post it here. It really does make them pop!

I use Bare Essentials mineral eye liner. The color I use is called Patio Party and it's a smoky dark brown almost black color. It's a powder that can be applied wet or dry. I usually apply it wet and I never apply it on the bottom for some reason that just doesn't look right on me.

I usually do black...sometimes I'll venture into a dark blue. I use pencil usually when I go out b/c its quick, easy & I know how to use it but as of late I've been practicing using liquid. Not quite there yet but I'm workin on it lol

I never wear liner, i'm too afraid i'm going to poke my eye out!
