Get Jill Scott's Curls with Ouidad

Jill Scott is back and feeling blissful with her brand new single, "Blessed." Not only is Jilly from Philly seemingly full of gratitude, but the Grammy-winning singer looks downright gorgeous in her video for the aforementioned feel-good song.

If you're wondering how she got those soft, bouncy curls, Scott's hairstylist used Ouidad products including: Botanical Boost Deep Treatment, Double Detangler, and Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner to create the easy, breezy curly look.

Ouidad products are available at Ouidad.com

I have yet to try the products, but I've heard amazing things about the curl-catering brand. Stay tuned for my full review in a few weeks. I did try the Double-Detangler comb and it's a curly-haired girl's dream!

Check out Jill Scott's "Blessed" video below:

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Celebrate 4th Wedding Anniversary

With so many Hollywood couples splitting in the news, it's refreshing when we hear of those staying together and making it work. Superstar singer Mariah Carey and entertainer Nick Cannon are proving that celebrity marriages can last longer than 72 days (er, Kim Kardashian) by celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary today.

Through sickness and health, the proud parents of twins Moroccan and Monroe renewed their vows and celebrated their union in Paris this weekend.

In an interview, Cannon shared his thoughts on love, "dembabies," and being the inspiration behind Carey's fragrance, Forever.

This photo was taken on Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's honeymoon in 2008.

Check it out below:

Nick on how he felt the first time he met Mariah…
"I presented her with an award at the Kid’s Choice Awards. I was so nervous but decided to take my chances and give her a kiss on the cheek! I had to have that kiss."

How Nick knew Mariah would be his forever love…
"Mariah is a beautiful and talented person, and I’ve had a crush on her for as long as I can remember. Every day, my respect for Mariah continues to grow higher. She’s a caring, warm and funny person. People have no idea how funny she is! I feel like I’ve always known she was my forever love."

Nick on what it takes to be forever…
"Nobody can predict the future. You just have to give your all to the relationship you’re in and do your best to take care of your partner, communicate and give them every last drop of love you have. I think one of the most important things in a relationship is caring for your significant other through good times and bad. To celebrate our lasting love, Mariah and I get married each year on our anniversary."

Nick on forever love…
"To me a forever love is a bond that can’t be broken. It’s like my love for “dembabies” and Mariah. You go through difficult times, but as long as you hang on to the beautiful things, it’s great – even when it’s rough, it’s real."

Nick on being the inspiration behind Mariah’s fragrance, Forever…
"It’s incredible. Who could really imagine somebody dedicating a fragrance for your love? I was pretty much in awe. I’ve learned a lot watching Mariah create such successful fragrances. Every time Mariah wears “Forever”, it takes me back to the passion and excitement of when we first fell in love."

Giving back is the real key to living a beautiful, fulfilling life. That's why for this final installment of Aveeno's Beautiful Change Challenge, I encourage each of you to spend some time in your communities volunteering, mentoring, or simply cleaning up your neighborhood. PEOPLE Names Beyoncé the Most Beautiful Woman in the World

It's no surprise that PEOPLE magazine has named Beyoncé the most beautiful woman in the world. The new mom, 30, seems to beam with beauty ever since giving birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter earlier this year.

On the coveted annual special double-issue cover she looks stunning while wearing eye-catching turquoise jewelry. This marks the ninth time that the superstar has made the popular list.

Inside the issue,  the "Love On Top," singer dishes about motherhood and shares several beauty secrets and tips.

Courtesy of PEOPLE

"I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth," she tells PEOPLE in the exclusive interview. "I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth."

"She's just the cutest thing," Beyoncé says her daughter. When asked who does the baby most resembles, the singer gushes, "She looks like Blue."

"The best thing about having a daughter is having a true legacy," she tells the magazine. "The word 'love' means something completely different now."

For more of Beyoncé's exclusive interview, be sure to pick up the special issue when it hit newsstands on Friday, April 27.

Event Recap: "Brunch with Eden"

What can turn a soggy Sunday in New York City into a fun, Bellini-flowing soiree celebrating our beauty as black women? Well, this past weekend, "Brunch with EDEN," hosted by EDEN BodyWorks did just that.

Held at the trendy and incredibly eclectic brunch hotspot Beauty & Essexbeauty and style bloggers/writers gathered to celebrate the launch of EDEN BodyWorks' new JojOba collection, nibble on delectable bites, and partake in an interactive panel discussion about the always-interesting hot topic -– our hair.

Moderated by T. Bernie, founder of COCOACHiC, panelists Geneva S. Thomas, Style Editor for Ebony.com and trichologist Dr. Kari Williams lead the conversation about whether there's a real division between naturalistas and women who chemically straighten their strands and the immense impact certain hairstyles have on our careers, love lives, and everything in between. It was an awesome way to spend an otherwise wet afternoon.

Stay tuned for a review of the natural-based product line, which was founded by entrepreneur Jasmine Lawrence at the age of 13 several years ago.

I can't wait to test them on my tresses!

From L to R:  Geneva S. Thomas (panelist), T. Bernie (moderator), and Dr. Kari Williams (panelist)

Attendees (From L to R): Michi Chassagne, Ashaka Givens, Ashaki Ward, with PR maven and  In Her Shoes Blog  founder, Renae Bluitt

Working out isn't something that comes naturally for me. While some people get an adrenaline rush and enjoying sweating it out, I don't. It takes a lot of coaxing from my husband to get me off the couch and actually get active.

But once I do get moving, I find that my go-to exercise usually involves working out my legs. I don't have excessively flabby thighs or calves, but in the spring and summer months toning is a must in order for me to confidently sport shorts, skirts, and flirty dresses.

Despite not being a die-hard work-out kind of person, the stationary bike is typically my exercise machine of choice. But, in and effort to switch things up for the Aveeno Beautiful Change Challenge, I've recently been running up several flights of stairs in my apartment to get killer gams.

So far, I've noticed that my legs look a little more muscular and I tend to have more stamina since I started using the stairwell. Also, after my workouts I make sure to let my body cool down before taking a lukewarm shower to maintain healthy hair and skin. We all know that showering too soon in excessively cold water can be a shock to the system.

Do the Earth and Your Body Good

While I try to do my part of being environmentally responsible, I know there's always room for improvement. That said, I've been using a few bath & body products from The Body Shop that are an eco-conscious girl's best friend.

Their new line of Earth Lovers shower gels are 100% completely biodegradable, soap-free, contain no parabens or colarants, and smell downright heavenly.

Being a beauty buff, I have tons of products that aren't biodegradable so when I come across products that are, I try to spread the word. Plus, these refreshing gels are made with organic aloe vera from Guatemala, which have incredible healing benefits for the skin that won't leave it feeling tight or dry. With scents such as Lemon & Thyme, Watermelon & Eucalyptus, and Pear & Lemongrass you'll want to wash with these gels ten times a day!

Available at www.thebodyshop-usa.com for $10

If there's one eco-friendly product line out there that's actually conducive to conserving the Earth while making you feel so fresh and so clean it's these gels.

What are some of your favorite eco-friendly products?

Guys & Our Natural Hair Revolution

It's pretty evident that we're in the midst of a natural hair revolution! We BGs are going natural and embracing our natural kinky, coily, and curly locks like never before (well maybe we have gone done this self-loving path before, but you know what I mean). We've chopped our relaxed strands and decided to let our God-given manes do their own natural thing.

Whether worn in a eye-catching Afro, twists, short crop, or any of the infinite styles that allows textured hair to shine, it's great to see our crowning glories being celebrated.

However, after a recent conversation I had with friends and family, I'm wondering if our brothers are loving our natural kinks and coils as much as we are. Personally, my husband was a bit resistant when I first did away with my shoulder-length relaxed hair, but has now embraced it completely.

What's been your experience with the opposite sex when it comes to your natural hair? Was your husband/boyfriend confused when you decided to cut your relaxed hair, etc? Or has your significant other always loved your natural hair? Guys, what's your take?

BGG Chats w/Celebrity Hairstylist Kiyah Wright

Recently, I stopped by Procter & Gamble's Studio in Rockefeller Center to catch up with celebrity hairstylist and Clairol Professional Colorist Kiyah Wright as she transformed three fabulous women into full-on glamazons!

Wright was on-hand as part of the Clairol Professional "Reveal the Fabulous in You" Facebook contest awarding three lucky women from across the country with a trip to New York City and a hair makeover by the famed stylist.

While I only met one of the winners, Fannie from North Carolina, she was beaming with excitement and anticipation of what magic Wright had up her sleeve when it came to her makeover. "I'm not sure, but so far I think it's going to be some curls," she guessed.

Kiyah putting finishing touches on Fannie's 'do!

From Ciara to Jennifer Hudson, Wright has styled the tresses of some of the hottest stars on stage and in Hollywood. When it comes to the the right color, cut, or style, Wright knows what looks best on her clients.

Check out some snippets and tips she shared with me:

Advice for giving my hair some much-needed pizazz:
"You should get some color! You're not ready to be gray. You need a semi-permanent, which Clairol offers. It's less damaging and provides shines. I would also add some warmness to it too. Like lift it up a few shades."

Her favorite style to create for a client:
"I enjoy doing makeovers the most. I am more about giving each client a custom look."

On the most timeless hairstyle of all:
"The bob is like an old favorite and it looks good on everybody. You can do a bang, a side part, or a middle part with a bob. It's just classic; it never goes away."

On her styling technique:
"I take a lot of pride in my work. I've been doing it over 18 years and I'm still excited about it. I do a lot of seminars, etc. One of the things I preach to the students is that most stylists don't style hair in the mirror. They sit on the chair and they turn the chair away from the mirror and go for their own comfortability versus looking at the client while they're styling, but that's how you get inspired."

Her favorite spring trends:
"This season is all about color-blocking, ombre, and liquid liners. It's also all about the pastels. I recently did a how-to on how to create your own clip-ins and go from day to night by popping in a bit of pastel pinks, etc."

Her thoughts on the natural hair revolution:
"I think it's just people's way of expressing themselves. This is who I am. This is my hair. This is a part of me. People are just expressing themselves in fashion, clothes, and with hair.  Right now it is a bit of a trend, but it's really who we are. I think being natural is forever, but you can change up your natural look."

The key to maintaining healthy hair:
"Making sure that you are conditioning it often, at least weekly. Textured hair should not be shampooed more than twice a week. Make sure to get bi-monthly trims and tie it up at night with a scarf, or use a silk/satin pillowcase and even carry it when you travel!"

Be sure to check out Kiyah Wright's blog for more tips and how-tos!

Our spirits and minds are the most important aspects of living a beautiful, healthy, and balanced  life. If those two major principles are out of whack, feeling good is nearly impossible. In an effort to feed my mind and keep my spirits high I've been trying to take 30 minutes of "me" time each day for the Aveeno's Beautiful Change Challenge.
Whether I use that time to take a relaxing bubble bath, flip through a magazine on my patio, or download a new app on my iPad, that "me" time is my opportunity to simply put myself first and do what I want to do. Being a mom and wife, that precious half-hour can seem even more necessary. While I felt guilty taking time for myself the first few days, I'm now getting used to it and aim to increase it to a full hour!
I took this photo when I took some "me" time and visited Mexico a few weeks ago.

When you take time out of your day to unwind by yourself, it gives you clarity and allows you to recharge so that you can be the absolute best you that you can possibly be.

Who says you're ever too old for preschool TV programs? While, I'm well beyond the playground crowd, I'm still enlightened by shows that my toddler watches. Recently, I heard Barney – the beloved purple dinosaur, singing about the importance of brushing our teeth without letting the water run.
Call it a minor "Aha" moment," but before Barney belted out that catchy green tune I'd never thought twice about how ecologically irresponsible I'd been throughout the years. For as long as I can remember, I always kept the water on while I brushed my pearly whites.

How do you incorporate being green into your daily beauty, health, or household routines?

Since that eco-edification, I've made a conscious decision to turn off the tap while tending to my dental hygiene routine. Plus, I also use that same water-saving practice when I wash my face in cold water to get my blood cells flowing for healthy, clean skin.

I now realize just how smart and easy it is to conserve our precious H2O by making slight adjustments to our daily household and beauty routines.

Pretty Pastels

There's no denying that bold and rich saturated gemstone shades and neons are still the dominating trends right now, but the preferred color-wheel is slowly shifting toward pretty pastel hues. The paler candy-colored options have been cropping up in tops, dresses, skirts, accessories, and more for the spring and summer seasons.

Mint green, soft yellow, cotton-candy pink, light lavender, and baby blue hues exude femininity and daintiness so it's no wonder that stores are stocking their shelves with the ladylike looks.

Perhaps, Easter will help usher in the pretty, sherbet-like picks.

Check out some of these chic pastel choices:

We've all seen those tabloid spreads, "Stars Without Makeup," but unlike some who scrutinize and ridicule celebrities who are caught out there without their "game face," I find it empowering. When these women step out in the midst of paparazzi without a stitch of makeup I think it shows that they're secure in their own skin, which is admirable. OK, some of them may not exactly intend to be plastered on the cover of these publications, but they still walked outside their homes without the help of a glam squad.

As women we all have days when we'd rather skip our beauty routines and brave the world bare-faced or throw on a baseball cap to cover our unpresentable strands. But, many of us have to take baby steps, namely me!  Once I decided to take part in this Aveeno challenge, I reflected on my daily beauty routine and recognized that I spend an unnecessarily long time getting ready.

In an effort to simplify, switch, and speed up my morning beautifying routine, I decided to give my hair a break and opt for a one-sided braid. It's super easy to do and it's a refreshing change from my usual topknot or two-strand twists. I've also simplified my daily makeup application. For a few weeks I've been using tinted moisturizers with SPF 30 instead of concealers or foundation. Admittedly, I can only do this because I'm not currently suffering from any discolorations or hyper-pigmentation.

Me wearing a side-bun and braid.
