Dreams Fulfilled!!

Yesterday will be etched in my memory forever - the day that the first African-American became president of the United States! I can't even begin to describe the exhilaration of witnessing it at the Mall in Washington, D.C. amongst hundreds of thousands of others. Despite the cold winds the energy of the crowd was electrifying. There really was no other place that I would have rather been (well maybe sitting up close like the politicians and dignitaries of course :-) because witnessing President Barack Obama take oath in D.C. was simply priceless.

I'm extremely tired because I just got back to NYC this morning. I have photos from the Obama exhibit, "Manifest Hope" gallery that I will share tomorrow.

Were you in D.C. or did you watch it from home, work, etc.?

Glad you're back safely- My mom had tickets and we attempted to head down to DC but we never made it, we missed the bus! So I watched history from the comfort of my home.

I was at work watching, but the emotion was the same...I cried and cried...then went home and cried and cried.

BGG, I'm so glad you were there! I watched the entire event at home alone and in peace! It was all that I thought it would be and then some. When that older pastor gave the benediction, I was through! I'm so proud of the Obamas it's not even funny. They are just wonderful to look at! They all looked absolutely fabulous! They are representing us so well! I truly believe the best is yet to come and I'm looking forward to your pics!

Yesterday was such a wonderful day! I still have butterflies in my stomach. I so wanted to be there in D.C. to witness that part of history, but I couldn't make it. I don't feel too bad because I was in Grant Park in Chicago on election night. Although I couldn't celebrate in D.C., I was able to watch with my high school students. I can't describe the feeling I had being to watch this special day in history with hundreds of the young students in my high school. I didn't expect to feel so emotional, but I did. I literally had to fight back tears as I listened to Aretha Franklin sing and President Obama take his oath. I guess when I really think about it I don't really believe I expected see the day that a Black man would become president of the United States.

When I wasn't glued to the television watching the O's, I was hoping to spot you on C-SPAN.

Unfortunately, I was forced to record it and watch it when I got home last night. Can you believe that Federal employees had to work? Well all accept those that work in DC.

@Kay - What a day indeed!!

@Wes - I saw a lot of people who had tickets that weren't allowed in. You had to get there VERY bright and early to secure your seat/ticket.

@Blair - I second that!! LOL!

@Kwana - The gallery was awesome; I wish I had taken even more pics than I did. I don't know when I'm going to come down from my Obama high either. I still can't believe it!

@Solshine - SO glad I made it down there!!

@Tamstyle - Very, very emotional!

@Meme - If I had been in my hometown, Chicago, during Election Night, I may not have gone to D.C. so I get what you're saying.

@K-Bear - They are representing us beautifully LOVE IT!!!!

@PBW - Lol!! There were just soooo many people out there! I actually did run into a friend and we were shocked because of the enormous crowd!

@Sherita - It really should've been a day off for everyone!!

My mom and I went to our neighbor's home and watched the inauguration. I'm glad you had a good trip in D.C. - how exciting that you were there! What a great day it was!

I can only imagine the feeling witnessing history. I watched it online on msnbc.com and nytimes, and heard it on Bloomberg radio (since nytimes and msnbc were lossing its connection just as Obama and Biden were sworn in). Great to learn you had a good time and witnesses our new president!

I watched from home, with my parents. It was truly exhilarating and emotional, so I can only imagine how you must have felt at the actual event, BGG!!! He is our Chicago homeboy and feel so lucky to have been able to watch him grow from a junior senator to what he is today. As dorky as it sounds, I am also excited that his middle name is my mom's maiden name... Hey, everyone wants to claim Obama so I get a turn too, no matter how pathetic of a claim it may be :) !

Wow what a moment, it looked amazing on TV but it would have been sensational to be there to witness it in the flesh. How far were you from him?

@OndoLady - I was veryyyy far, but just glad to be there! LOL

I saw him clearly on the JumboTron!

I was there and it did not matter where I stood just as long as I was there! I missed that issue of Parade because I was on the highway, I need to find a copy of it. I took picture after picture of the people but forgot to take pictures of myself and of my sister.
