Beauty with a Purpose!

There are hundreds of products on the market that promise to make you look and feel better, but there are far too few products that do that and actually give back to those who help create those very products. That's why I find Shea Yeleen to be a great example of a high-quality beauty product with a purpose.

This shea butter-based company was founded by Rahama Wright, 29, to empower women through organizing and training them to produce, market and sell high-quality shea butter. Fifty percent of the profits go right back to these African communities to further empower these women to sustain livings and provide for their families.

Shea Yeleen boasts a host of different products including body butters, body balms and lip balms. Check website for pricing sheayeleen.org.

Do you seek products that give back?

I love this concept. One of my passions is economic development in the black community and encouraging us to uplift our own. I'll def be checking this product out.

I'll definitely check this product out. When possible, I tend to buy products that give back or support the African/African-American communities. There's a beauty supply store in my area that's owned by a BG. If she doesn't have what I'm looking for then she'll order it. I no longer shop at Sally's or any other beauty supply store. Thanks for the post!

No I don't but I will! A purchase with a purpose...who can argue with that?! Plus I love anything that will make my skin feel soft but not greasy! I can't wait to get some!! Thanks, BGG!

Everyone should try to buy products that give back. I know that I'm going to try to become more aware of those items.
