Mothers Know Best!
In honor of Mother's Day, I thought it would be fun to find out what have been some of your mother's best beauty/fashion tips and advice. For me, the best thing my mom ever told me was to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!! I never knew the importance of keeping my skin hydrated prior to her divulging her #1 beauty rule. I've been moisturizing faithfully since I was a teen. Now that I'm only one year away from 30, moisturizing seems to be serving me well. Hopefully, my skin will continue to appear young and healthy so that I can look as good as my mom when I get her age!!
Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 available at www.drugstore.coms for $11.49
What are some of your best beauty/tips from mom?
**In honor of my mom's #1 beauty rule, I'm giving away one of the most recommended moisturizers on the market. Cetaphil's Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 to one lucky reader. Just leave a comment and a winner will be selected randomly and announced tomorrow.

I was just looking at this in Walmart today! I bought the Cetaphil cleanser but didn't buy the moisturizer though...
My mom isn't really into beauty that much, but she loves Aveeno products (body wash, lotion, whatever) & always told me to make sure I put on lotion right after I take a shower/bath
We have the cleanser for my 9 year old..he thinks water is what he should use to wash his face..BOYS! I would love to try the moisterizer.
I dont have any tips from my mom to share..But I do share with my daughter the importance of a clean body. A woman being clean is very important. I stress to her what she has, how to clean it, and keep it from being FOUL! I dont want my daughter to be that girl that smells...UHHHHHHHHHH. I also stress the importance of a good bra!
First of all, I totally love that Mommy/Daughter picture. It is absolutely beautiful. I looove Cetaphil products. The cleanser is amazing!
My Mommy always taught me how to take care of myself ALL the time...be it take a daily bath, giving yourself a manicure or spritzing yourself with a little fragrance....feeling good about yourself comes from the inside and can also be reflected on the outside.
I use the Cetaphil cleanser but haven't tried the the lotion. My mom's #1 beauty tip is AMBI! She swears by that product. She's been using Ambi since I can remember and I'm almost 30. Her skin looks amazing. There's not one wrinkle or discoloration present on her skin. Her skin has a nice smooth glow to it.
Hi BGG
Your mom certainly hit the nail on the head. moisture is key.
PJD
my mom handed me a tube of concealer when I hit 13 and told me to cover up my under eye circles. A bit harsh, but important to hear!
That is a great photo! My mom always advised us to moisturize, NEVER sleep in make-up & ALWAYS wrap our hair at night (regardless of style) and/or sleep on satin pillowcases.
Mommy always said alot of thing but the one that stuck out the most was when she said not to pull my hair back to tight in a pony tail. I never use to listen until she showed this chick who was walking in front the house...she was missing hair up until her ears. So gross.Keep those ponies loose girls.
BGG, I can't remember any beauty tips from my mom but I know what I tell my daughters...accept what you have and learn to deal with it accordingly. In other words, accept the hair you have, the skin you have, the body you have and then find products to address your issues! Whatever you have to do to pursue your pretty...do it!
Less is more. My mom never said this, but she lives it every day. She only wears lipstick and blush (if she wears any make-up at all) and her skin looks awesome.
I love a full face as much as the next BG, but when I don't have time or energy to get made up, it's not a big deal.
Great topic!
My Mom never really said anything to me regarding beauty (my ultra-femme aunt was there for that!), but her great spirit and energy have always said that the best beauty headstart is a bright smile and positive outlook.
don't recall any beauty tips, but I do remember that she told me to close my legs and sit up like a lady.
Love the blog! I was just in Walgreen's buying some facial goodies! And this would be a great addition.
My mom always told me to moisturize and don't forget to wash behind my ears! lol :)
Love the mother and daughter pic!
My mom always said cleanliness is next to God, so I take that to be her beauty rule - styaing clean.
I recently started using the Cetaphil moisturizer on my skin, and I def notice that the condition of my skin has improved. It's more even toned, probably because of the spf. I'm late to the party on the moisturizer + spf thing but I'm glad I started!
My mom is very into self-care and being feminine and womanly, and I think I picked that up from her. Mainly making sure my lips are always moisturized...there's nothing worse than dry, chapped lips! Another tip my mother passed to me, passed to her mother which was passes from her mother, is to use witch hazel as your facial toner. It's much gentler than most toners and I swear it has anti-aging properties, because the women in my fam have fab skin.
Self care = Self love
