Fabulous Flats!

Walking is a huge part of living in New York City. That's why I love the fact that flats are so fashionable right now. Wearing comfortable, yet chic shoes is essential to getting around in the city.

Who wants to sport sexy, 3 inch-high heels while trying to catch the subway, "L", Marta or whatever your public train service is called? Ok, maybe some of you do, but it isn't easy. For those of us in NYC, it takes skill to navigate through the endless throngs of people on crowded sidewalks and subway platforms. Plus, you have to seriously concentrate on how to avoid getting your heel stuck in one of those inconveniently placed subway grates while trying to look poised and polished all at the same time.

So, leave the stylish heels for the days when you're cabbing it or driving and opt for a fabulous pair of flats!

Check out some of these:

hey bgg. i am digging the orange ones. i gotta admit that i am wedge girl. five foot one needs some height. the wedges work well in washington's spring and summer weather.

flats are fab!!! I don't do heels...well as much as I would want to...I wanna move to NY in the next few years and my flats are comin' with me.

BGG, I love you and I know you know fashion but I just hate a flat shoe...unless it's a flip flop or a gym shoe! :-) You may not believe me but whenever I dare to wear a pair of flats, my feet hurt like the crazy. I guess I'm lucky to be here in H-town where we drive everywhere..even to the mailbox...no joke!

i LOVE flats! however, like ananda, i am short so i like to put in heels every now and then. and you are so right about tryin to take the metro in some heels tryna be cute.... not when u standin' at metro center waitin' 30-45 min for a train that isnt packed during rush hour.

Those are cute! Oh, I wish that more stylish options were available in my size - unfortunately all the flats in my size have "grandma" written all over them!

I would definately agree with K-bear. I love flip flops and gym shoes although this spring and summer I said I would wear heels alot. Wearing heels is one of my many changes I plan to make. Flats to me are just so boring but its understandable if you are walking everyday.

I am the flat queen! I can't walk in heels to save my life. I've been known to carry flats in a bag to formal events. Shhh. It's only the grand entrance that counts. lol! I love the Jessica Simpson ones. Thanks!

@Kitty-Vodka -- Maybe I'll save a peep-toe post for the future. I love peep-toes too! :-)

I don't like flats. They do nothing for me, I just feel like I am walking barefoot. I would rather sling on a pair of trainers.

I know I already gave my two cents but my dislike of a flat shoe is so strong I decided to say more! Please all you beautiful BGs that have to walk a lot, please keep a pair of heels under your desk, please! And please don't bother buying ones with a peep toe cause nobody's peeping once they see you're wearing flats! ahahahaha Okay, I'm sorry...wear what you like. :-(

@K-Bear -- You are hilarious!! Yes, I do have heels at my office that I slip in at work.

There are some cute flat peep toe shoes! I bought a nice pair 2 summers ago.

I'm somewhat tall so I still feel statuesque even in flats!! LOL!

BBG!!! you are on a roll about two of my favorite subjects, music and shoes.
I can only said that I'm Imelda Marcos when it comes to shoes. I guess my Pilipino background comes out on this one. HA!

@Yummy411 - I have no idea why my updates are not coming up on your Google reader. Someone else told me the same thing. I wonder how I can fix that. Thanks for letting me know! :-)

I am planning to get the Tory Burch flats in hot pink. I already have some in lime green.
I'm tall and like flats, in spite of my shoe size (veer between 9.5 and 11)

i really like jessica simpson's flats. I'm a shorty and haven't mastered the art of wearing heals yet, so I like anything that looks good and is comfortable.

Hi Karla - I love heels but have to agree with you on wearing flats when you have a lot of running around to do. It just makes sense. For me, I love a small wedge. Not to high or not to low. Just right. Thank you for your expertise!
