Look who is doing a better job at stoppin' by BGG without the assistance of Google Reader! Yessss! "Going green" has really become a fad which is fine by me because at least it's something that can actually help us as a people. Your selections are always on point, sis.
I'm a neo-hippie so I would definitely cop the organic cotton t-shirt.
HI BGG
I like some of the products from Origins so I will have to go with the lip tint.
Product Junkie Diva
Nothing. I'm doing nothing to help the planet but all that's going to change. It's not that I'm opposed to doing the right thing, I just never realized we had so many green options. I love the earrings, the bags and the candle. I'll even use green cleaning products if I ever see them on the shelves at Walmart. I saw that film on global warming and if it is accurate, we all need to do whatever we can to help. I promise to do better, BGG!
i do very little with respect to "going green". i'll try to keep these environmentally friendly options in mind. Happy Earth Day!
YAY Earth Day! When I was in college I was a member of Earth Doctors, a bunch of tree huggers that were into recycling and composting and t-shirts made from recycled glass.
I fell off a bit when I started to get into more time-consuming positions in college, but my earthy roots are still there.
I'm basically just the recycling queen now, but it's so good to see everyone else jump on the green bandwagon.
btw, love the organic hoops and the price tag!
The only thing that I make a conscience effort to do is bring a bag with me when I am going shopping. Before I use to keep bags so that I can reuse them some day, which I still do, but I ended up with more bags than I can use. So now I carry my own canvas bag and look cute while shopping even though I am out there in the same pair of sweats I just worked out in 5 minutes earlier.
I recycle but aside from that, there's not much I do. I am becoming more aware of my un-greenness every time I use a styrofoam cup or throwaway takeout packaging. (can't say i'm going to stop ordering takeout though) But I will try my best to avoid such things today in honor of earth day. BTW love those earrings, I never knew earrings could be organic! Thanks for teaching me something new bgg!
i use those newfangled light bulbs...my little earth contribution. i love candles so i'll def check that one out!
TKS for the reminder! Actually using totes when food shopping is a great idea.
Those plastic bags are never strong to hold large items.
You are so right about green being the new chic. I think it's also a HUGE money maker now which I'm not sure I'm so happy about. But I do try and conserve by changing to more energy saving bulbs and recycling. I do always forget to bring my bags to the grocery store though. Darn!
Happy Earth Day!
We all can do better in trying to help preserve the earth. I guess a step for me would be take all of the totes I've accumulated to the supermarket instead of using plastic bags.
go green everybody
I never knew about the environment until I visited Denmark. It was a great experience to see how people casually integrate environmental decisions in every aspect of their lives. My first grocery trip was a rude awaking. I hoarded groceries to the counter, and the store charged me for each plastic bag. Recycling in Europe is mandatory. I once saw a group of young men, on their way home from a night of drinking, drop all their bottles in each appropriate recycling bin. My experience in Denmark changed my perception about life and it influenced my design work. I never needed to purchase water bottles, because their water was clean. And, it naturally had minerals! My complexion was glowing, because the air quality was excellent. I ate more bread and diary products without any concerns to my health, because the food was minimally processed and free of growth hormones. The streets were amazingly clean, because people cared enough not to litter. The results I experienced when everyone -- from government officials to the everyday citizen -- makes a major effort to save the environment, is worth the change of lifestyle. The environment is not a fad, nor is it a trendy fashion decision. It's a serious issue that will require major lifestyle changes in the near future. And, sadly for our culture, our government will have to pass the laws to influence companies and people to change their habits. The changes proposed may seem initially draconian, but people will be able to breathe refreshingly easier.
I'm obsessed with those earrings - they are gorgeous!
I'm a big fan of Origin's skin products...I need find ways to make my house greener friendly...
