Bring Wow to Your Brows!

BGs with beautifully sculpted brows!

When I was younger people always complimented me on my eyebrows. They always assumed that they had been arched because of their seemingly well-groomed shape. Apparently all of those compliments fell on deaf ears because during my early 20s, I decided to have the "professionals" pluck away at my natural arch.

Ever since I had them tweezed and waxed, they grow in much bushier and more disorderly than my "virgin" brows. I guess I should've left well enough alone, but hey, what can you do? Now I rely on visits to the salon and products like these to keep my brows looking beautiful!

TIP: For a natural arch, always use brow powders, as opposed to pencils, which create sharp, unnatural-looking brows. Also, use shades that are slightly lighter than your hair color. If you're in the L.A or New York City area, make an appointment at the celebrity favorite, Damone Roberts Salon for red-carpet ready brows.

What do you do to keep your brows looking well-groomed? Do you tweeze, wax, or thread?

brows are SO important. it's so funny how well groomed brows can just open up your face and make you look fresh and pulled together.

oh and that damon - he has some fierce brows! i've seen him on an episode of keyshia cole and baldwin hills (don't judge!) and he hooked 'em up. i would definitely trust him with my brows...and i don't trust many!

great post as usual.

This is a great post. I am totally obsessed with my brows...mine are thin and sparse due to overplucking. I fill them in with Maybelline's Define A Brow Eyebrow pencil. I used to Mac's self sharpening eyebrow pencil, but it's just too damn expensive. The Maybelline pencil works just as well for 1/3 the price :-)

I have been waxing my eyebrows for years but recently been introduced to threading and it works very well for me.

I am obsessed with brows. I use this great stuff by anastacia.

I have my brows threaded. I don't like the powder to fill in my brows. I prefer the pencil. I have that mastered.

@Kay - You are so right! Brows really do frame your face and make you look fresh and pulled together. Every BG should take the time to keep them looking good!

My brows are a bushy mess without tending too. I look back at grammar school pictures and bwoy, thank God for a beauty regiment. I've done it all, but now I wax. I found someone who does my brows PERFECTLY. I go about once a month.

BGG, having nice brows is right up there with having great hair! Very important. I used to use the razor back in the day then I started plucking and then I graduated to waxing. The problem is nobody does my brows to my satisfaction but me! So I use that little razor pencil thing you get at the beauty supply and it works wonders. I use my eyeliner to fill them in but the secret is I wipe it off after I apply it and what's left is perfect! BTW, I just recently started doing my 13 year old daughter's brows. It may seem a little early to get her started BUT she needed it!

you forgot to mention your brilliant chapstick idea!

@Kittyvodka - Ah yes!! Chapstick is the perfect wax alternative for keeping brows in place on the fly!

Ah Yes the art of brow sculpting. I love using Brow Fantasy by Revelon. It is a double sided container with a pencil on one end and brow mascara on the other. I know people tend to go overboard with the "Pencil" but this particular one does not let you deposit "too much color" no matter how much you draw. The brow mascara keeps those unruly hairs in check and gives a slight boost of color! Very affordable at $7.

I get my eyebrows threaded. Even thought it is a painful experience, it only lasts no longer than 3 mins ( 5 mins tops). But it lasts me a good 2-3 months and they are very natural looking and clean especially if you don't want it too thin. And the hair doesn't grow back bushy or thicker. I recommend this technique.

I prefer getting my eyebrows waxed. If I can't get an appointment, I'll get them threaded.

Auntie Freda says - keeping my brows groomed is so important to me. Folks tend to think if you wear glasses brows don't matter as much NOT! I do my own and have been since my teenage years. I'm not a fan of "threading" for hygienic reasons. I don't like the idea of one holding the thread in their mouth then gradually feeding through their hands to thread the eyebrows. Also, I've seen them go from one person to the next without sanitizing their hands. Call me crazy but that's just me.

I've always kept my brows natural but I'm finally ready to give them a little shape. I'm thinking about doing the threading but I'm still scared, wish me luck!
