Makeup Be Gone!

I know this might come as a suprise since I am a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie, but I have never used makeup remover prior to last week. While I was at my friend's house, I used her Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and have been obsessed with it ever since. You guys know how much I love mascara and eyeliner so it’s quite unbelievable that it’s taken me so long to use products that are actually made for taking off makeup.

Now I can easily remove my 2 coats of mascara without worrying about the black stains that I’m creating on all of my face towels. This is like the best discovery ever; I don’t think I’ll ever go back to my old-fashioned way of vigorously rubbing with warm water again!

Do you use makeup remover daily?

I guess they all do the same thing, but check out some of these:

I don't wear makeup daily but when I have on mascara I do use remover to get it off. I use the gentle remover from illusions cosmetics. Good stuff.
Thanks for the great review.

I sleep in my make-up. Gasp... I know. I'm not lazy I swear, just exhausted. When I do take it off, I use baby oil, then I wash my face with a gentle cleanser.

I really need to do better. Got that Wal-mart excursion coming up, so I'll probably holler at some make-up remover then.

P.S. I found out my concealer has SPF in it, so on the days I do wear make-up, I'm more sun-protected than I thought. I'm still on the search for the triple-action moisturizer too. :)

I don't wear mescara or eyeliner so I don't have heavy scrubbing to do. But I do use Philosophy's purity made simple facial cleanser. They have a new high foaming formula that i'm dying to try. It's very gentle, I highly recommend it.

Good choices! I've been using for years Lancome. It works for me I love the smell and it's not oily at all.

I don't wear a lot of makeup, but whenever I do wear mascara I usually take it off in the shower w/ my fingers and that works well for me. I have a makeup remover from Almay but its made of oil and it gets in my eyes! Its quite messy actually.

I don't use make up remover much but with your great endorsement I may have to give it another try.

Can you believe your beauty blogger here doesn't even own any make-up remover? *gasp* Seriously, I don't. I don't wear face make-up and find that using a baby wipe works pretty dern good for mascara and a liner, if I wear one. But I need to do better. Kiehl's...here I come!

BGG, I used make up remover a long time ago and it was oily and caused my pours to clog. I had to have surgery on my eyelid...ouch! Needless to say, I never used it again, however, I am so tired of ruining my towels, I'm willing to try an oil free one. Wish me luck!

I use my cleanser and water, it does a good job of taking it off. Hugs, DE

I have eye make-up remover, but usually am too lazy or tired to find it and use it!However;when I do use it, I like the Christian Dior stuff, I got it as a free sample with my mascara, and it does work great; especially because the DiorShow mascara is hard to get off sometimes.

im still in love with my ponds facial cloths i wrote about a few weeks ago. they do pretty well with the mascara and liner.

I don't wear makeup often but when I do I do sleep with it on--cause I forgot I had it on. When I do remove it I'm old school and use Vaseline. I know it's oily but it works.

@T - I'm always too paranoid to sleep in my makeup, but I can understand if you're totally wiped out and completely exhausted. Oh how I miss Wal-Mart. :-(
THey have THE best beauty buys for less. Glad to hear that your concealer has SPF!! :-)

@PJD - Illusions...I should try it!

@Kittyvodka - Nothing beats Dove. Nothing.

@Wes - I try to stay away from oil-based products because I break out easily.

@Kwana - Give it a try! It's so much easier!

@B - Yes, I can believe it because I didn't own one either!

@K-Bear - OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!! Just use warm water from now on!!

@DE - That's a good idea.

@PCD - I think I'd really love the towelette removers.

@BrownGirlSpeak - I MUST try that DiorShow, I've heard soooooo many great things about it. I'm so tempted to go to Sephora tomorrow.

@Antithesis - I still haven't tried those Pond facial cloths, I should though.

@Mrs.Erika - Oh I remember my cousin used to do that. Hey, it gets the job done!

I don't wear make up, call me Ms.Natural, but I will tell my friends who do wear it to check out this review. Great advice!

I am so honored to be the one to introduce MsBGG herself to Neutragena's Oil Free Eye Make-up Remover. Like BGG I used to wipe my eye make-up off with a washcloth, or like T be too damn tired to take it off at night, or try to wash it off in the shower like Wes. After buying and using the Neutragena product, I will not go back to those methods.

BGG!! you are a mascara addict and have never used makeup remover?? how did you go so long like that!? i'm glad you found something that works for you!

I don't do eye makeup too often, although when I wore some green this weekend on my eyes it was hard to get the makeup off, thanks for these suggestions.

when I did wear make-up (foundation, blush, sometimes eye shadow), I would wash my face with Neutrogena facial soap. I've always been skeptical of using make-up remover b/c I have oily skin and tend to break-out a litte from foudnations. BGG, can make-up remover be a substitute for facial soap?

I have another one: MAC makeup wipes. It is the one-stop shop for makeup removal and moisturizes, too.

Brown Girl Gumbo said...

@Ashley-Nicole - No, I would not substitute makeup remover for facial soap. Try Dove facial wash; they're the best for sensitive skin. Good luck!

I swear by my Lancome Bi facial remover but there was time when I left it at home (I was on a three day trip). Vaseline and cotton balls remove eye makeup and isn't irritating!

The Body Shop's Chamomile Makeup Remover is gentle and soothing and takes off every trace of eye makeup...even stage makeup...without having to rub! I like the liquid version better than gel.
