There are few times I can walk in a store without checking out the dress section. That's because my favorite fashions are dresses; just ask my husband! He recently asked me, "How many dresses do you need?" My answer was simple - if it's a sheath, there are NEVER too many. Although I really don't think that any woman could own too many dresses, no matter the style. But there's just something about a sheath that makes me feel confident, sexy and ultra feminine. The design of most sheaths create sleek and flattering silhouettes, which most women seek.
Another great thing about this classic cut is that they work throughout the seasons. For example, now they can be worn with bare legs, but during the colder months they will still look great paired with textured tights. Plus, they work for a wide variety of occasions. From work to after work, sheaths are our fail-proof frocks!
Do you own a sheath dress?

Fiiiirst!!
I loooove dresses. I think they are my favorite pieces of fashion too. That M.Kors is HOTT!! I love that man's designs. Do you watch Project Runway, BGG? Um....obsessed! Have a wonderful Thursday!
BGG, I love dresses and they love me too. I mean since I've gotten older and wider, dresses are much more flattering not to mention more comfortable. I absolutely love the sheath (didn't know it was called sheath), however, my ridiculous hips scream A-line only! But just so you know, BGG, I used to rock the simple sheath! It's what I call the simple sexy. It's the kind of dress best suited for woman who are very shapely!
I haven't worn one of these in a really long time, but I do like the versatility they provide and that they're timeless. It's like a work-church-party-date dress.
Lately I've been doing a lot of straight strapless and A-line halters. (Clearly summer only pieces, but in the Chi you get it in when you can)
The Nicole Miller lilac dress is HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT and the price isn't bad either...
OO i love the pink one! and the charcoal!
i agree, i love dresses...it's so easy, it's just one piece and that make you feel so pretty and feminine...i'm definitely on board with this post!
those are all so pretty! i do prefer flowey dresses in hot summer days.
i like your style
I really like the cut of those dresses. With just the right shoes one could put together a fierce look.
thanks
PJD
I am a total dress girl. They are so glam and feminine. Also you just put them on and you do not have to worry about a matching skirt. All you need to sort out are matching shoes and bags.
i didnt know those type of dresses had a name. i love those!
i think i have one of these dressses but i clearly need more - these are fab. especially the abs and eci ones!
yay! your feed is working in google reader!!!! now i can keep up every day!! =))) love the recommended dresses!
I'm not quite sure if I own a sheath dress. In fact, I don't think I really know the difference between a sheath and a regular dress. I do, however, love to wear dresses. I like dresses that hug my curves and/or show my cleavage any other kind of dress does not flatter my figure and makes me feel like I'm wearing a bag (not a sexy feeling)!
@B - I looove Project Runway!! It's definitely one of my favorite shows.
Ahhh! I want desperately to own one of those dresses. They are fabulous and so classy.
I saw your comment on Secretista -- I actually intern at MB and the seminars I've attended have been pretty great!
These are all so cute and classic. Thanks for the post. I am supposed to go shopping tomorrow, I will try some of these on!!!
Hmm, you got me on this one........lol! Micheal Kors is always good for something, love the dress!
@Yummy - I'm so glad it's working now...FINALLY!! :-)
I am in LOOOOOOVE with that first dress! It's got that lil something that separates it from a classic sheath, I must get it!
Yes, I have several sheath dresses and they always travel well, wear well, look sleek and lady-like. I love accessorizing them to change them up!
Love all the dresses you posted!
I heart Sheaths! Absolutely!
You should always keep a black one because it can be dressed up or down.
the red one says me.... i love sheaths.
while i love the versatility of the sheath dress...when i think dress, i think "dress up" - and for me, the sheath is far too professional (and pardon me, square) to be truly lovely and fun. please, not all of us are 40-year-old fabulous professionals...while GORGEOUS, not me. mea culpa, mea maxima culpa..
