Good-bye Granny Girdles!

If you like wearing skin-tight dresses a la Mariah Carey or just want to create a nearly perfect silhouette, there’s one garment that you will definitely need – a body-shaper. Women have been wearing body-shaping undergarments for hundreds of years and the technology keeps getting better.

Whether you want to wear something that keeps your tummy tucked away or want to emphasize your tiny waist, body shapers help keep our jiggly parts in place, which ultimately creates a more flattering figure.

From Spanx to a basic thigh slimmer, there is an ultra-slimming body-shaping undergarment that will suit your needs. Trust me, they're not just for grannies anymore!

I've never used a body-shaper, but I've been dying to try Spanx to slim down my thighs in certain dresses. Have you ever used a body-shaper?

I've never worn one but I have certainly come to the point where I need to. I was checking them out just this weekend but I just couldn't do it. I feel like the moment I purchase one, my life is on the down slope! But I guess they're not just for old ladies any more, huh?

Um ... Yep... I would need the thigh thinner....

@Amina - I've actually never used a body-shaper, but I have used some inexpensive spandex shorts that I got from Strawberry for $7.99! I use them like people would use Spanx...it's the inexpensive version! LOL!

@K-Bear - I really don't think they're just for old ladies anymore. There are young curvy women out there who would like to create a slimmer look.

@K-Bear - Oh and all the celebrities like Jessica Alba, Beyonce and Tyra Banks swear by Spanx, who knew? lol

Spanx work! Even if you aren't trying to look thinner, they make you look smooth and fab in tight evening dresses without making you feel like you want to cut yourself outta them in two hours.

Great post, BGG!

I've heard good things about spanx, thanks for posting this. We all need a lil extra smoothness sometimes

Oh I hate them so much. I have so many and they are never comfortable. But that's just me. The search continues. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll give some of yours a try.

Great post. One thing that these products can do, as you mentioned, is reduce the jiggle. I can use that waist shaper right now..LOL
thanks for this post.

Wow girdles! Yes I think I can use one but I feel that if I buy one I'm admitting that I'm not in good shape. I also have this image association of old and large. But you have shown me differently as in the Spanx Hipnotic pantyhose are quite cute as per the Angela Bustier.

I've never found a good body shaper that i'm not completely uncomfortable in. I bought a pair of Spanx but it was extremely tight and I couldn't even squeeze myself into it. (I did get my true size, I didn't buy a size smaller as you might think) Next time i'm going for 2 sizes bigger to see if that works. I was surprised at the look, it looked just like hosiery and wasn't very expensive. i think they're worth another try (in another size of course ;o)

Body shapers are truth! And they are not just for the curvy gals either... I love how they create smooth silhouettes. Some create curves where there are none. Hello hips! Certain ones also add a bit of back support so they can help alleviative lower back pain. Love this post!

I'd like to try one!

I just stick to empire waist shirts for my stomach. Other than that, I've got no jiggly parts. :P

The one was really cute but it didn'tlook like it would hold anything in.

I've used Frederick's of Hollywood Ultimate Waist Cincher for my tummy and midsection. It was okay. I really want to try Spanx too, but I don't know if it would do my tummy justice.

I tried to rock some Spanx but they just didn't go, lol! I think I may have had the wrong size. I'll probably try them again.
